Book Paid Duty Officer

The Peterborough Police Service is committed to providing quality service to the community. The Paid Duty Program will allow clients to hire off-duty officers on a contract basis to provide a police presence at their events. Officers will not be assigned to any function that requires that they act outside the normal scope of police duties. Some of the assignments for which officers are available include (but are not limited to):

  • School Events
  • Festivals and Concerts
  • Sporting Events
  • Community Events
  • Large Load Moves
  • Traffic Control
  • Film Shoots
  • Meetings or Hearings
  • Parades
  • Private Functions

Terms to be considered when applying for Paid Duty Officers:

  • Events must be within the City of Peterborough or any Municipality that the Peterborough Police Service provides policing services for under contract.

  • A 3 hour minimum charge per officer.
  • There is a 24 hour cancellation policy in effect.
  • A 6% cancellation free for any Paid Duty event that is cancelled by you, the client, will only be applied when the client advises that they no longer need the officer(s) after the contract has been created.  If the Police Service needs to cancel the event, there will be no charge to the client.
  • ** Any Paid Duty occurring on a recognized Statutory Holiday will incur an additional 15% premium for those hours worked on said Statutory Holiday per member. **
  • The number of officers required for a Paid Duty will be assessed and determined by the Peterborough Police Service based upon a risk assessment. Only when all parties agree and all required positions are filled will service be provided.
  • The Peterborough Police Service maintains the ability to alter the duration of paid duties into shorter times. In situations where the paid duty ends earlier than initially scheduled the Paid Duty applicant is responsible for paying for the minimum hours of (3).
  • The Peterborough Police Service will make every effort to fulfill Paid Duty requests; however, the filling of requests is not guaranteed.  Advance notice assists the Peterborough Police Service in fulfilling requests.
